With Rumble dominating the house music scene currently, Fred Again…’s skyrocketing fame continues its streak online and offline, all over the world. From viral videos of Boiler Room sets to him free styling whole productions in the studio, Fred Again… has a gift that cannot be overlooked; a music touch that only pops up once in a generation. Despite his humble South London upbringing, Fred Again… did have help from one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Brian Eno is a British composer and music producer that has a slew of genre bending and industry changing music starting in the 70s to the present. Eno has worked with the likes of U2, Damon Albarn, Grace Jones, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 for his work and part in Roxy Music.

Brian Eno, an artist that is somehow well known within music yet anonymous amongst a crowd, was a family neighbour of Fred Again…, born Frederick John Philip Gibson. While home from boarding school, Gibson was recruited by Eno to join his acapella group that had members such as Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics.

After two years of mentorship, Eno asked Gibson to collaborate on an album, thus starting the beginnings of Gibson’s long list of credits. Eno and Gibson collaborated on two albums, along with Karl Hyde, in 2014.

After years of continued success after Gibson released his debut album in 2020, Gibson and Eno further collaborated in 2023 on the album Secret Life.

Great talent needs to be harnessed in order for it to reach its full potential. Without Brian Eno’s genius and Gibson’s talent and skill, we wouldn’t have one of the most influential artists in house music at the moment.

Thank you Brian Eno!

Listen to Brian Eno's debut album, a personal favourite and a classic, Here Comes The Warm Jets.
